sit in a place that you feel comfortable and it will help you with your ideas.
if you are stuck on a description for a place or a personality for one of your characters. I found that being in a place that lets you be surrounded by people either on your own or with your friends is a great time to get past the blocks that you have.
Take in everything. The sights, smells, the touch of the seat you are sat at, the feel of the counter your stood at. The people you are near, reinvent the conversations around you. write everything down, no matter how small, even if it the colour of a clip that a girl is wearing, it does not matter. Your surroundings will help you with everything. Always count in your own views and change things to how you want them to be. Just think, i could just be the beginning of you new short story or novel.
Don't be scared of what you see. Look deeper between the lines of what people say, determine the reasoning behind the body language. No one will ever find out what you are writing and no one will really care, because it will be yours. They might be the subject of your views but they are a base line of your creativity and your own imagination. Your friends are there to help you in so many ways. They are not just people to confide in, not just someone to have fun with or talk to when you are too happy to stay on your own. They are a baseline to everything you write and what you think.
If you are in school, college, university, a full time job or nothing at all devoting your life to your write, expose yourself to everything. To the people in the world, to the new cultures you can discover if you peel away the surface of what people make you believe. You just have to observe everything around you.
